Maybe this is a bad news for Malaysians. I tried to bid (“BuyIt Now”) an item on EBay but failed because Ebay required me to verify my account using a Credit Card, even after I did it!
The above screenshot is the message I received when I tried to confirm my EBay “BuyIt Now” purchase, it reads as follow:
To help protect your eBay account, we limit the amount of items that can be bought or sold by a single account at one time.
You can increase the activity limits on your account by taking one or more of the following actions:
Verify using a Credit Card
Process is immediate and your card will not be charged.Important: only available for Visa Credit and Mastercard.
Verify credit card? No problem, I have PB Visa Electron debit card (which I used it to verify my PayPal account) !
I was wrong.
After I added my credit card (ok… DEBIT card) information and successfully linked it with my EBay account. No problem, right? BUT, I still get the same message again when I go back and confirm my Ebay purchase!
I did a few biddings on Ebay (ebay.com, ebay.co.uk) but never had any problem. My current EBay score is 4. Now, someone tell me what should I do to bid an EBay item? Please?

Update: When I tried to contact the seller through EBay messaging, I received the following message request for credit card verification again!

“different site than you own”… apparently, it is not for Malaysians only. Hmm… it is a bad news. I never bid on EBay Malaysia. It has very limited items and sellers do not accept PayPal (PayPal does not support Malaysian bank account YET).
Again, any solution please?

the same for buyers and sellers in China for bidding and listing on ebay.com. No way out.
I just bought something thru “buy it now” and i was prompted the same message – need to verify my credit card. after i verify i could buy the item easily leh…how come u cannot? wierd…maybe ebay don’t accept debit card? btw, i’m malaysian too.

I managed to purchase through eBay as well after clicking on the “buy it now”. I used my RHB VISA card to verify and it went through. Maybe debit card not allowed? Or maybe it only works for digital products? Not sure, check with eBay!

Well, I verified my PayPal and eBay Account (eBay Malaysia) with a Credit Card (ok..it was a VCC I bought from the net for only $25). But I never had any problems bidding and buying any items from eBay.com.
Its weird that you are having problems bidding maybe you have to use a real credit card instead of a DebitCard?

I’m having exactly the same problem. I bought stuff from ebay last year no problem and now this crap. Am writing to ebay but so far no luck.
Ukrainians have this problem too. I send e-mail for EBay support and waiting for answer.
nooooo!! i jsut heard that ebay is not accepting debit cards for malaysia!!! they said debit cards will not work for malaysian members at this time… is there any way to solve this?? we must demand for a change in the rule!! i thought many poeple bought studf using debit cards before this!! whydid they change the rule??? does ebay normally change its rules if there are enough poeple demanding it??
strange… i started bidding on ebay in June 2008 and using my PB Visa Electron Debit card and I have no problem so far…. May be eBay has fixed the problem eh?
